Employee Benefits

Tallahassee State College (TSC) is committed to supporting the health and wellness of our employees by offering a comprehensive benefits package. We provide access to excellent health coverage and a variety of insurance options to meet the needs of our employees and their families through two main programs:

  1. State of Florida Group Insurance Program (SGIP):

    • Health insurance and flexible spending accounts (FSA)
    • Managed through the People First system for enrollments, changes, and COBRA administration
  2. TSC Benefits:

    • Dental, vision, and life Insurance
    • Short-term and long-term disability, accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness options

Dental

We are proud to offer you a choice between two different dental plans.  A high option plan and a low option plan.  Both plans offer you the freedom and flexibility to use the dentist of your choice. However, you will maximize your benefits and reduce your out-of-pocket costs if you choose a dentist who participates in the Ameritas Dental network.
Following is a high-level overview of the coverage available.

>Accidental Insurance Benefits

Having an accident doesn’t just hurt you — it can also damage your finances. Your medical insurance will cover some of the expenses, but you'll be left to foot the bills for your copays and deductibles. Those can add up fast, especially if you’re unable to work while you recover. That’s where Accident insurance comes in: It helps protect your bank account from the out-of-pocket expenses that can come with an injury — whether you’re coping with a broken arm or recovering from a serious car accident.

Critical Illness Insurance Benefits

You may have medical insurance. But that doesn’t mean you’re covered for all of the expenses resulting from a serious
illness that you probably haven’t budgeted for — things like copays, deductibles, loss of income, child care, and travel
expenses. Group Critical Illness insurance helps fill the gap caused by these out-of-pocket costs, creating a financial
safety net for you and your family.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance Benefits

Medical insurance is important. Especially when you have a hospital stay – planned or unplanned. But it can leave you
with unexpected bills and out-of-pocket costs. Group Hospital Indemnity insurance can help cover unexpected out-of-pocket expenses such as copays, deductibles, and out-of-network charges, as well as everyday living expenses. It pays a benefit directly to you for hospital stays, regardless of your treatment costs or other insurance coverage you might have

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance Benefits

You probably have insurance for your car or home, but what about the source of income that pays for it? You rely on your paycheck for so many things, but what if you were suddenly unable to work due to an accident or illness? How will you put food on the table, pay your mortgage, or heat your home? Disability insurance can help replace the lost income and make a difficult time a little easier.
