A.A. Degree Program

Tallahassee State College offers an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree which features various disciplines. An A.A. degree features a general education curriculum, which is often sought by students interested in transferring to a 4-year college or university as a junior upon graduation from TSC.

The A.A. degree at TSC helps students achieve holistic, interdisciplinary skills aligned with specific Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) necessary to successfully transition to a 4-year college or university. These SLOs are illustrated below.

Communications

Students will demonstrate effective reading and writing skills by using appropriate strategies for a variety of rhetorical purposes and audiences.

Scientific and Quantitative Reasoning

Students will identify and apply appropriate quantitative analytical methods to explain phenomena and generate effective solutions.

Critical Thinking

Students will apply critical and creative thinking skills to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize ideas.

Intercultural Knowledge and Competence

Formerly known as Global & Social Diversity. Students will demonstrate an understanding of diverse perspectives and their influence on individual, social, historical, and political events or on cultural expression.

Information Literacy

Students will demonstrate effective information literacy skills by locating, evaluating, and effectively and ethically using information to achieve an academic or professional purpose.

 

The Associate in Arts /University Transfer General Education program follows a Five-Year Assessment Schedule to re-assess the above student learning outcomes. *This plan is an extension of the 2020-21 to 2024-25 plan.
