Jimmie Callaway Scholarship
Fund #3772
Jimmie Roy Callaway, Jr. was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on July 16, 1935. After finishing high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force, worked for the Tallahassee Fire Department, and later spent many years with the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jimmie found his true calling as the Football Equipment Manager at Florida State University, working under Coach Bobby Bowden. In that role for over 25 years, he helped young athletes grow in their skills—and more importantly, in their character. He believed in hard work, honesty, and faith, and was proud to see many of those athletes become kind and successful people.
Jimmie began his faith journey at First Baptist Church, starting in the Cradle Roll Department and later becoming a deacon. He and his wife, Donna, shared their love of gospel music by opening their home to senior adults for praise and worship.
Jimmie and Donna have supported Tallahassee State College for many years. Donna served for over a decade on TSC’s District Board of Trustees.
This scholarship was created to honor Jimmie’s legacy by providing tuition help to students transferring from TSC to Florida State University.
