Heather Mitchell, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Tallahassee Community College, was honored by Young Actors Theater (YAT) at their inaugural Leading Ladies Breakfast to celebrate Women’s History Month.
Heather has served as Executive Director of the TCC Foundation and Vice President for Institutional Advancement for the College since 2015. She earned an AA at Chipola College before completing a bachelor’s degree at Florida State University. Her dynamic career has included roles such as Office Manager at the Press Office of Gov. Lawton Chiles, Executive Director of The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, and both Vice President of Resource Development and President and CEO of United Way of the Big Bend.
"Heather's leadership has been felt across the entire Tallahassee community and beyond. Her boundless energy and savvy have produced great opportunities for young people to advance professionally," said Sarah Doolin Roy, Executive Director of Young Actors Theatre. "From creating amazing cultural experiences, such as Cleaver & Cork and the upcoming Rock the Roost featuring Luke Bryan, to the endless behind-the-scenes activities to set young people up for success, her efforts have a direct impact on what makes Tallahassee magic."
The United Nations declared 1975 as International Women’s Year, and in Tallahassee it was the year Tina Williams founded Young Actors Theatre. Today, YAT honors leading ladies of the community during Women’s History Month, with its first annual Leading Ladies Breakfast, presented by Prime Meridian Bank. YAT shines a spotlight on women who exemplify qualities of strong female characters they present, resilient and optimistic innovators, collaborators, and place makers.
