Tallahassee Community College will host the Fine and Performing Arts Showcase on Wednesday, April 5, starting at 7 p.m. in the Fine and Performing Arts Center. Area high school students and their families are invited to attend.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the College's fine and performing arts programs including Theatre TCC!, African Drum and Dance Ensemble, Speech and Debate team, the Talon student newspaper, the Eyrie art and literary magazine, visual arts, creative writing, multicultural mythology, and Latino literature. The Ralph Hurst Gallery will be open to visitors and a special preview presentation of the Theatre TCC! musical Head Over Heels (PG-15) on Wednesday, April 5, in Tallahassee Community College’s Turner Auditorium.
“This event has been in the making for quite some time and we can’t wait to share the passion and creativity that TCC has to offer with the community,” said Donmetrie Clark, Dean of Communication and Humanities at TCC.
Head Over Heels was written by Jeff Witty and adapted by James Magruder. It is “a hilarious, exuberant celebration of love” set to the music of 1980s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s. “The production follows a royal family on an extravagant journey wrought with mistaken identities, jealous lovers, scandal, and self-discovery,” said Eva Nielsen, director of Theatre TCC! “It is a smart, funny, and relevant show for ages 15 and up.”
