Two Tallahassee Community College student media publications continued their tradition of excellence by bringing home six awards from the Florida College System Publications Association annual conference, held in Jacksonville, Fla. on February 9 and 10.
The Eyrie student art and literary magazine won three awards for its 2022 edition. In the Artworks category, TCC won first place for Ryan Cake’s “How Romantic” and Ambar Collazo’s “Self-Portrait” earned first-place recognition in those categories. Ryan Cake also won first place in the Individual Art category for “Scarred for Life.” The Eyrie also took home a third-place award for Best Poem, honoring Jack Shaw’s “Bonnie Drive.”
The Talon student newspaper won three awards. Michael Tuzzolo won second place in the Feature Story category for “Former TCC Student will star in Lifetime’s ‘Christmas in Tune’ with Reba McEntire.” LaToya Hannah won third place in the News Story category for “Realtor? Car dealer? TCC grad Kyle Footman does it all as he pursues degree at FAMU.” Both stories were also published in the Tallahassee Democrat. Julia Tentzerakis won third place in the Illustration category for her drawing of Rosa Parks.
Nicolette Costantino, associate professor of English, advises the Eyrie staff. Reggie Grant, professor of journalism, is the advisor for the Talon.
“I would like to congratulate the students on a job well done,” said Donmetrie Clark, Dean of Communications and Humanities at TCC. “I am always proud of the great work that our students produce and I especially would like to thank Nicolette Costantino and Reggie Grant for dedicating their time to work with each student who submitted their work.”
