Third grade students from Sabal Palm Elementary, A Community Partnership School toured Tallahassee Community College on Friday, March 3. Students visited the award-winning William D. Law, Jr. Learning Commons, library, Dr. Lei Wang STEM Center, Dental Hygiene Clinic, Turner Auditorium in the Fine and Performing Art Center, and Lifetime Sports Complex, and had the opportunity to learn about the many career and technical education programs available at TCC.
“We are excited to welcome the students of Sabal Palm,” said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, president of TCC. “Any time we have the opportunity to showcase our beautiful campus, our world-class academic programs, and our amazing support services to those who might choose to come here, we are happy to do so. Whether they want to earn a college degree or workforce credential one day, we want them to see themselves at TCC.”
“It is the belief of Sabal Palm Elementary, A Community Partnership School that students need exposure to college campuses,” said Principal Shannon Davis. “This experience gives young students a glimpse into college life, feeds their curiosity and shapes their minds to set long-term goals. As a former student and Alumni Hall of Fame recipient, I know firsthand the opportunities this college offers students. This tour will demonstrate the world of opportunity ahead of them should they choose to explore in nine years! We are grateful for this opportunity and the hospitality exhibited by President Murdaugh and the team at TCC.”
