Sister to Sister at Tallahassee Community College was recognized as a Program of Promise by the National Organization of Student Success (NOSS). The award recognizes programs that are using effective and/or promising practices that promote student success and development. Sister to Sister exemplifies the mission of NOSS by providing “holistic support to facilitate student success, retention, and completion.” Dr. Sharisse Turner, Dean of Transitional Studies at TCC, and Kalle Herring, president of Sister to Sister, accepted the award at the 47th Annual Conference for the National Organization for Student Success in Nashville, Tennessee.
Sister to Sister is a mentoring program for female students of color at TCC and is designed to increase minority success, retention, and completion through mentoring, leadership development, social development, academic support, and career guidance. To join, students must be currently enrolled at TCC.
