The Tallahassee Community College Forensics Team brought home the win from the Florida College System Activities Association state forensics tournament. This is the seventh consecutive win and the 23rd title in the last 25 years.
The Eagle competitors captured state championships in all 13 events and boasted the top six overall individual speakers at the competition. Notably, all 11 team members were award winners with 40 of the team’s 41 entries placing in the top six in the various categories. Pamela Healy led the team by winning all five of her events. Amanda Holton, Cassidy Cummings, Elizabeth Blair, Aliyah Salce, and Trevor Bell (respectively) placed second through sixth in the individual speaker award category.
Assistant coach and adjunct instructor Arden Kelly was recognized as FCSAA Coach of the Year. Students from teams around the state also voted to award team captain Elizabeth Blair with the Shira Brownstein Fellowship Award. Shira was a TCC team member who lost her battle with scleroderma in 2011. The Brownstein family established a scholarship at TCC in her memory.
Next up for the team is an opportunity to win the Florida Intercollegiate Forensics Association state title, which includes teams from all state colleges and universities. TCC last captured the four-year state title in 2020.
