The Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) Chapter at Tallahassee State College (TSC) has been honored with the prestigious 2024 AFC Gold Chapter of the Year Award, recognizing its outstanding contributions and commitment to excellence within the Florida College System.
The Chapter of the Year Award celebrates the exceptional work of college chapters across the state. Chapters are evaluated on a range of criteria, leading to distinctions of Platinum Chapter, Gold Chapter, and Silver Chapter status. TSC’s recognition as a Gold Chapter underscores its dedication to advancing educational excellence and fostering community engagement.
Adding to the accolades, Rita Brown, Library Services Supervisor, received the Distinguished Service Award for her exceptional achievements at the chapter, regional, commission, and state levels. This recognition highlights the significant impact that dedicated members have in shaping the success of the Florida College System.
Further accomplishments from the chapter include the certification of Gwendolyn Gascoigne, Sheri Thomas, and Heather M. Mitchell through the AFC Leadership Certified College Professional Program. This program enhances leadership skills while deepening participants’ understanding of the Florida College System's history and operations.
These honors were announced at the AFC Leadership Conference, an annual event designed to address pressing issues within Florida’s college system. The conference provides a platform for newly elected chapter, region, commission, and committee officers to refine their leadership capabilities and establish goals for the year.
