Math Champions

About Math Champions 

Math Champions shield logo.

Math Champions are students who are paired with a faculty member to assist with student success. Math Champs support their peers as mentors and tutors and help facilitate academic learning. They are students recognized for their exemplary mathematical skills and their ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly to others.

Responsibilities

  • Attend class with your paired professor (faculty mentor)
  • Assist with group work in class
  • Attend training sessions that will focus on best practices in tutoring and leadership
  • Hold tutoring sessions each week in the Learning Commons to assist students in:
    • Reviewing and clarifying information covered in class
    • Improving their study skills for the class
    • Achieving subject mastery

Interested in becoming a Math Champion? 

Qualifications

To become a Math Champion, a student must have:

  • A recommendation from a faculty member
  • Mathematics GPA of 3.0 or greater and cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater
  • Completed application
