Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund
- Tallahassee State College has been awarded $7,763,584 under the CARES Act. It is our goal to reach as many students as possible and comply with all U.S. Department of Education guidelines. Fifty-percent ($3,881,792) of those funds are to be distributed to students. The other fifty percent will be used for institutional needs and to provide assistance for additional students in the coming months.
- Tallahassee State College has received $2,044,700 of the $3,881,792 for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Student.
- The College has distributed $2,044,700 to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of June 26, 2020.
- For the Spring 2020 Semester, there were 4,239 students eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
- The College has disbursed funds to 3,699 students. Phase One will be completed by July 31, 2020.
- Phase One will distribute 55% of the currently available student allocation. The amount a student receives is dependent on their financial need and full-time or part-time status. The financial aid office has identified students who have already completed the FAFSA and meet the required eligibility criteria. The College’s focus is on the neediest students in the EFC range of 0 to 7999. This population represents at-risk students who are most likely in need of funding for internet access, technology resources, are most at risk for food deprivation, and have the greatest potential for homelessness.
Phase Two includes the distribution of the remaining 45% of the currently available student funds. TSC has reserved these funds for summer and fall distribution in order to reach more students. These funds will be distributed based on economic need and other eligibility criteria. Students must have a completed FAFSA or must have completed a TSC application to be eligible. - Students received a direct email and more information is posted at https://www.tcc.fl.edu/admissions/caresact/
