Types of Summer Aid
Federal Pell Grant
Federal Pell Grants are available for Summer term even if you have previously used the initial amount for which you were eligible.
The U.S. Department of Education has authorized institutions to award up to 150% of the Federal Pell Grant a student qualifies for in an award year. Most students must enroll in at least six eligible hours to qualify for the additional funds.
If you got a Pell Grant before the main Summer term, your eligibility depends on how many credit hours you’re enrolled in at the end of the Summer Main drop/add period.
Students who have used up their Federal Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility can’t receive more Pell Grant funds.
Federal Direct Loans
TSC awards loans for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms in the initial award no further funds are available for Summer.
New students to the Summer term who have completed the FAFSA will be awarded loans for Summer only.
The federal government requires the College to give loan funds in two parts: one at the start of the term and one after the middle of the term.
To get a loan, students must be enrolled in six eligible credit hours that count toward their TSC degree. For summer loans, professors must confirm attendance in those six credit hours.
