Leon County Homeownership Development (HOD) Program

Leon County’s Housing Services Division supports organizations and builders in creating affordable housing units through their Homeownership Development (HOD) Program. This initiative assists income-eligible first-time homebuyers by significantly reducing the overall cost of homeownership through targeted financial support.

Key Features of the HOD Program:

  • Funding for Construction: The program provides essential funding for the construction of housing units for builders to develop properties that meet community needs.
  • Cost Reduction for Buyers: The HOD Program lowers the purchase price for eligible first-time homebuyers by subsidizing development costs.
  • Eligible Costs Covered: Funding can be applied to critical expenses, including land acquisition, infrastructure development, necessary fees, and permits necessary for constructing homes.

Financial Details

  • Maximum Award Amount: Up to $100,000 in funding is available to qualified builders and organizations.
  • Loan Structure: The financial assistance is offered as a deferred forgivable loan, easing the burden of repayment.

This program not only promotes affordable housing but also helps to improve the overall well-being of the community. Potential homebuyers are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to make homeownership a reality.

For more information and how to apply, visit Leon County Governments HOD Program page or contact the Housing Service Division directly:
